Hot on the heels of a busy season in the fashion world, with global Fashion Weeks coming to a close in New York, London, Milan and Paris, Salam Stores will be bringing the latest designer collections to Doha as part of its Spring/Summer 2016 (SS16) launch at the end of March. The start of the season will be marked by the unveiling of a museum-inspired installation and exhibition the “Fashion Dream House” at The Gate Mall on the evening of March 31, for which Salam Stores collaborated with Qatari designer Noor Abuissa.
Inspired by the SS16 season’s premier colours of rose quartz and light blue, the “Fashion Dream House” will feature various spaces from a house setting (living room, garden, bedroom). The exhibition will use clothing from the latest fashion collections and Noor’s art to bring to life everyday living scenes in a playful way through installations around the ground floor at The Gate Mall. The exhibition will be open to the public from March 31 through May 31 2016.
“Salam Stores has a strong regional legacy lasting over 65 years and we are proud to support home-grown talent like Noor, whose designs and modern interpretation of traditional Islamic artwork meld history and modernity, art and fashion in a beautiful way. At Salam Stores, we have a long history of offering unique and interactive shopping experiences to our customers and having the chance to view an art exhibit while you shop is another way that we hope to engage and inspire our guests,” said Mr. AbdulSalam Abu Issa, Deputy Chief Operating Officer of Salam International.
Salam Stores is one of the Middle East’s oldest and best-known fashion and lifestyle brands established in Qatar in 1952. As a leading market retailer with a distinct identity, Salam offers more than 450 of the world’s top designer labels, with many being exhibited as part of the “Fashion Dream House” collection.
“I am honoured to have the chance to co-curate the launch of the Spring/Summer 2016 collection at one of the region’s premier retailers and collaborate with a company that has been a long-standing supporter of my career. Fashion and art are intrinsically intertwined and I’ve been lucky to be able to work at the intersection of both. Working with Salam Stores to curate a collection driven by colour has been an incredible experience that I hope many guests will enjoy,” said Noor Abuissa, describing her inspiration for the collaboration.
The SS16 collection is available in Salam Stores now featuring renowned international designers, including the latest collections from Giambattista Valli, MSGM, Rochas, Moschino and Alessandro dell’Acqua among many others.
